Originally from Calgary, Dr. Alim Karmali completed a BSc in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary with Dean’s list honours. He then attended the University of Waterloo School of Optometry graduating with distinction and honoured with the Dr. John G. Flanagan Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence in Glaucoma. Dr. Karmali then bolstered his training by undertaking a residency in ocular diseases and glaucoma, supervising optometry interns, training with advanced modalities, and engaging in and presenting research locally and internationally. Dr. Karmali is also dedicated to volunteering his time and knowledge within the community, participating in sport and fitness, and travelling. He has competed in high-level soccer and ball hockey and has travelled to Brazil to support an underprivileged community meet local needs. His passion for adventure continues to take him around the world and up the slopes of Big White.
